PN Junction Diode | What is Diode

Forward Bias:

Applying a forward bias (connecting P to positive and N to negative) reduces the potential barrier.

This allows current to flow easily through the diode.

Reverse Bias:

Applying a reverse bias increases the potential barrier, resisting the flow of current.

Only a small reverse current (due to minority carriers) flows.
