Fix Your Hoist Switch For Cheap!

The switch on my 7 ton car hoist burned up the other day so I figured I’d replace it with a new one. But after getting quotes from the hoist parts suppliers for around $250 I figured there had to be a better way, turns out I was right. The plastic button they were going to sell me was identical to the arcade buttons I purchased and the microswitch is the exact same make and model that they quoted me. So instead of $250 for a hoist motor contact switch I replaced everything with a COIN arcade button and micro switch for under $20. The hoist action is smooth and solid and I actually think the micro switch is better than what was originally installed, it engages solid and is less prone to jogging of the hoist.

Understand you can’t use the microswitch that comes with these arcade buttons they are not motor rated. You need to throw them in the bin for another project and buy another microswitch that is motor rated for your application. My microswitch was $5.33 Canadian.
