Wing Haven Garden Tour | Gardener in Love

Our favorite annual tradition is finally here - the Wing Haven Garden Tour! This year's tour took us through 4 glorious private Charlotte gardens along with the Wing Haven bird sanctuary and gardens. We had the best time exploring and getting inspired. Come along with us and tour the gardens for yourself!

Wing Haven Gardens and Bird Sanctuary was founded in 1927 by Elizabeth and Edwin Clarkson as a peaceful haven for birds. Transformed from barren land into a lush three-acre garden, it features formal plantings, fountains, and winding brick paths. Elizabeth, a dedicated ornithologist, documented over 150 bird species and helped ban DDT spraying in Charlotte. In 1971, the couple donated the garden to the Wing Haven Foundation, which now also manages the nearby Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden. Wing Haven is Charlotte’s only historic landmark garden and is nationally recognized as a certified wildlife habitat and birding hotspot.
