Part 3: (2HRS, 2MIN) Pinterest's Algorithm Amplifies Bot Content Alongside Legitimate Publishers

This video exposes Pinterest’s rampant use of fake Pinterest users to inflate engagement numbers and mislead advertisers. We scraped and documented thousands of fake profiles, each one propping up fraudulent pins that Pinterest rebranded under its own name. The original creators were erased. The stolen content was repackaged. And much of it links directly to malware sites—places that install Trojans, steal identities, and harvest login credentials in seconds.

Advertisers are paying to be part of this. Not just funding it. Fueling it. Their money goes toward fake activity that looks like success on paper but hides real harm underneath. Behind the clicks are infection chains, credit card theft, data breaches, and spyware—served under their brand banners.

The legal fallout is already in motion. Advertisers who got caught in Pinterest’s fake user ecosystem are now exposed to class actions, regulatory violations, and brand damage tied to malware distribution. Pinterest sold them on performance. But what they got was fraud.

They have every right to demand refunds, damages, and accountability—for being misled into paying for fake users, fake signals, and stolen content repackaged as real.
