Strategies for Building Connections Between Technique and Repertoire

Creating an effective balance between teaching technique, working in a method book, and rehearsing repertoire during daily classes is a daunting task for even the most experienced string teachers. In this session, we will discuss various rehearsal strategies that isolate specific concepts and keep students engaged in class when focusing on specific technical skills. These rehearsal strategies will help teachers build stronger connections between technique and concert repertoire. In addition, students will understand the importance of learning technique, how to easily transfer their skills to their concert repertoire, and how to practice difficult passages. Covered strategies are applicable with musicians in beginning, intermediate, or advanced ensembles.
