Guido Volpi - Ella mi fu rapita...Parmi veder le lagrime
Volpi was Born in Cremona in 1889. He studied voice in Milan and La Spezia with Maestro Arturo Cadore and Domenico Cortopassi. To a great extent he was self taught vocally. He was known as being gifted with an innate sense of music and an extremely fine musical taste.
Volpi was always unsatisfied with himself, being known to practice incessantly. He had a pleasing voice which was greatly appreciated by the public. His delivery and pitch was consistently perfect. His voice was known to have a fine timbre which he kept consistent from bottom to top over it's full range.During the 1920's and early 1930's he sang in most of the major Opera houses in Italy and Latin America.
Guido Volpi can be seen as an important representative of the period in which he sang. Enjoy this rarely heard recording of an excellent tenor from the 1920's.
