🤣🇰🇵 THE INTERVIEW (2014) – “THE JEWISH HANDSHAKE” SCENE
“When awkward meets political… comedy becomes a weapon.”
Reel & A Beer Short Breakdown 🍺🎬🔥

This scene is peak The Interview — a perfect storm of Seth Rogen awkwardness, Randall Park’s deadpan dictator energy, and comedy so uncomfortable it loops back around to genius. Aaron (Rogen) goes in for a normal handshake… and Kim Jong‑un recoils like he’s being handed a live grenade. The pause is brutal. The silence is loud. And then Kim drops the line that detonates the whole moment: “Because Aaron’s a Jew.” Followed by that disgusted, drawn‑out “Grossss.”

It’s the kind of joke that only works because the delivery is so casual, so matter‑of‑fact, so wrong that you can’t help but laugh at the absurdity. Rogen’s face sells everything — confusion, embarrassment, panic — while Franco’s character stands there like nothing unusual just happened, which somehow makes it even funnier.

The brilliance of the scene is how it weaponizes discomfort. It’s satire turned up to eleven — mocking propaganda, mocking ignorance, mocking the bizarre mythologies dictators build around themselves. Randall Park plays Kim with this bizarre mix of charm and childish cruelty, making every line feel like a punchline wrapped in a threat.

It’s wild, it’s sharp, it’s chaotic — and it remains one of the most quoted moments in the entire movie.

Reel & A Beer’s all in! 😎
When comedy gets political… the handshake becomes history.
