I always wanted a microscope for SMD work and inspecting/filming PCBs. But a trinocular microscope with a sturdy boom and camera is big investment and takes up a lot of space. Besides, I would be using it only once in a blue moon.

Andonstar digital microscopes are a less expensive alternative for occasional use. Though they got good reviews, I never liked their small 5-6’’ displays. However, now they have models with 7’’ displays …
