Advancements in Translational Biomarker Identification from Cell-Free RNA

Liquid biopsy is most often associated with cell-free DNA, but new research has shown additional value in interrogating a broader diversity of analytes in the blood.

Cell-free RNA (cfRNA) is one such molecule that has been shown to reflect dynamic changes in many tissues. Researchers at Illumina have optimized key variables to enable scalable, end-to-end workflow solutions for whole-transcriptome library preparations of cfRNA.

Continued application of cfRNA stands to benefit a multitude of human health concerns by empowering non-invasive interrogations of disease etiology and identification of predictive, diagnostic, and prognostic biomarkers, all of which will further facilitate our transition into the era of personalized medicine.
