The Office of a Prophet Vs the Gift of Prophecy
The gift of prophecy is not the same thing as the office of a prophet. A prophet can "The Lord said or showed" because he or she has had a dream or vision, but those with the gift of prophecy speak encouragement by their own faith to edify the church. And every believer should desire the gift of prophecy to be a benefit for the body of Christ.
