How to clean a shotgun - spotless barrels FAST!!!

How to clean your shotgun barrels thoroughly in under 8 minutes. It is quick, easy and thoroughly cleans the bore of your gun. Once you've got your technique down, it will take you less than 5 minutes.

I have scoured the internet for different methods, spoke to some experienced shotgunners on http://www.shooting.com.au forums and spoken with club shooters on how they clean their barrels.

Some people use just a boresnake, but I found this didn't get the barrels clean enough for my liking.

Some people spend waaay too much time to do the exact same job you'll see here.

I saw one guy use a drill to spin his brush in the bore (I know, right? WTF?)

I have taken the knowledge of some of these guys, thrown away the chaff and have put together a video of how I clean my gun - quick and clean. The best idea I ever picked up was to wrap the patches around the brush. This is the key to a quick clean.

The gun is an Akkar Churchill trap. It's had about 6500 rounds through it. It's still tight, it still works perfectly. It has always been cleaned like this after every shoot.

You might notice I don't use grease. If I'm storing the gun for more than a week I use grease. If I'm shooting again in the next couple of day, I don't bother. The gun is kept clean and lubed all the time and due to my tendency to grab the gun by the action when it's open, I get grease on my hands when I'm in the traps.

One thing you don't see me do is check the action. The action doesn't get very dirty. Check it after every shoot, though. If it's looking a bit dirty give it a wipe out with a rag and give it a quick spray. Don't put too much in or it will leak out onto your stock while you shoot or in the safe - a little lube goes a long way.

Don't mess with your action. If you need to watch this video, you don't know how to fix it if something goes wrong.
