BTR-50PK was a Soviet built APC. Large number of different BTR-50 variants were purchased and used by the Finnish military. This is a video from the 100 years history of Finnish armoured corps celebration and memorial event, with the APC exiting the exhibition area to return to its garage.

BTR-50

The BTR-50 (BTR stands for Bronetransporter (???, ????????????????), literally "armored transporter") is a Soviet amphibious armored personnel carrier (APC) based on the PT-76 light tank. The BTR-50 is tracked, unlike most in the BTR series, which are wheeled.
The BTR-50 was developed in 1952 and entered service with the Soviet Army in 1954. It was first shown in public in November 1957. It served in the motorized rifle regiments of tank divisions and mechanized brigades in the Soviet and East German armies. A typical mechanized brigade consisted of three battalions, each of which had 30 APCs and a command vehicle. They were replaced in front line service by the BMP-1 IFV.

BTR-50PUM is Finnish varianet, upgraded BTR-50PU fitted with the equipment of the R-145BM (BTR-60 variant) and smoke grenade launchers, one NSVT 12.7 mm heavy machine gun and additional armor.
BTR-50PUM1 is Finnish variant, modernized PUM with western radio sets.
BTR-50PK was a standard APC brought in 1963 and 1968, total 60 vehicles. The vehicles were used in various missions and for example one mine layer variant was developed.

BTR-50PK

Ensimmäiset 15 kpl BTR-50PK vaunuista tulivat Suomeen joulukuussa 1963 Neuvostoliiton myöntämän toisen tavaraluoton myötä. Vaunuja ostettiin myöhemmin lisää siten, että vuodesta 1968 alkaen niitä oli maassamme yhteensä 60 kpl. PT-76:n tapaan Suomeen myydyt vaunut olivat myös tuotantoajankohtaansa nähden riisuttuja versioita. BTR-50PKvaunuja käytettiin PsPr:ssa useissa eri tehtävissä. Kokeiluluonteisesti siitä tehtiin myös mm. miinoitusversio. Niitä väli- ja peruskorjattiin TeknV:lla ja Asev 5:llä vuosina 1969-1998. Kaksi BTR-50PK-vaunua kuuluu nykyään Panssarimuseon kokoelmiin. Suomessa BTR-50-PK-vaunujen tärkein tehtävä oli toimia panssarijääkäreiden kuljetus- ja taisteluvälineenä. Vaunu oli hyvin vesiajokelpoinen.

Birth of the Finnish Army armoured corps
The Finnish Armored Corps can trace its origin to 1919 with the formation of the Tank Regiment (Hyökkäysvaunurykmentti) on the 15th of July at Santahamina Island near the capital of Helsinki. With the regiment of men sorted, it was time to get the tanks sorted and an order was placed for 32 French Renault FT tanks. These arrived from Le Havre in Helsinki in early July, complete with six Latil tractors with their trailers, and were issued to the Tank Regiment on the 26th of August 1919.
Finnish Armored Corps fought in The Winter War, The Continuation War and The Lappland War, in the three Finnish wars during The Second World War 1939-1945.

Today The Armoured Brigade (Finnish: Panssariprikaati) is a Finnish Army training unit located in Parolannummi, near Hämeenlinna, in southern Finland. The brigade specialises in training armoured and anti-aircraft troops.

Panssarivaunujoukot 100 vuotta
Tänä vuonna tulee kuluneeksi 100v suomalaisten panssarivaunujoukkojen koulutuksen aloittamisesta. Tätä satavuotista taivalta juhlitaan Parolannummella Hämeen Panssaripataljoonan perinnepäivän merkeissä 12.7.2019.

Tänään Panssariprikaati on mekanisoitujen ja moottoroitujen taisteluosastojen, ilmatorjunnan sekä elektronisen sodankäynnin erikoisosaaja Kanta-Hämeessä. Myös Varusmiessoittokunnan soittajat koulutetaan Panssariprikaatissa.
