Haunted Coyoacán CDMX: The Legends of La Nahuala and El Callejón del Aguacate

A special Halloween edition of our weekly video series takes you to the ancient cobblestone streets and alleys, the colonial era churches and creepy legends of Coyoacán, Mexico. This picturesque and quaint neighborhood pre-dates the arrival of the Spanish colonizers, as does the legend of the Nahual, a shapeshifting elemental that terrorizes the town. We also take you to El Callejón del Aguacate, allegedly one of Mexico City's most haunted locations, and recount the horrifyingly tragic story that has left a psychic imprint on this alleyway.

Film clips used to help illustrate the story of La Nahuala are from 'La Llorona,' 1960, directed by René Cardona, with María Elena Marqués, Eduardo Fajardo, Luz María Aguilar, Carlos López Moctezuma. License

In researching these legends, we found that there were no pre-existing videos on YouTube discussing "haunted Coyoacan" in English, but there are several in Spanish. If you want to learn more, here are a few links worth checking out:
