World must ‘hope and pray’ there is no escalation in Hamas-Israel conflict
Former Head of the British Army Lord Richard Dannatt says the world must “hope and pray” the conflict between Israel and Hamas does not escalate to avoid a major retaliation.
Lord Dannatt expressed concern over Hezbollah getting involved in the conflict.
“The last time I saw Israel, it was made quite clear to me that the amount of rocketry and missiles that Hezbollah has got could cover the whole length and breadth of Israel,” he told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“The iron dome system, as good as it is, runs the risk of being overwhelmed and the IDF have made it quite clear to me that if that happens, they really have no option but to retaliate in a major way.
“That might even include striking targets in Iran.”
