China warns Czech senate speaker will pay 'heavy price' for Taiwan visit

China is now trying to shore up relations with Europe and Asia as its tensions with the US threaten to splinter the world along cold war lines. However, Taiwan remains a thorn in its side. Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi has reacted angrily to Czech senate speaker Milos Vystrcil's visit to Taiwan. He said those who challenge the One-China principle will have to pay a "heavy price". Mr Wang is wrapping up his trip to Europe, which aims to repair ties, and lobby for access for Chinese companies like Huawei. However, his counterparts in France and the Netherlands have raised with him concerns over the human rights situation in Hong Kong and in Xinjiang.
