How to make friends at a new school

Hey guys! It's ya girl Yabi here and today we're talking about how to make friends at a new school since it's almost Back to School season I made a video to help. If you're going into a NEW high school, middle school or college these tips and advice would be very useful since they can be applied for all grades.
1) My first tip is to always BE YOURSELF! I know how cliche it sounds and it's something most people say for a reason! Embracing your quirks and weirdness is what makes you YOU! So embrace it!
2) My second tip is to LOOK UP & SMILE! at people when you're walking to your classes or are on your lunch break! You seem approachable when you smile but just make sure not to smile too much. And so don't be looking down on your phone or at other people's feet/ foot! This will just make you look shy and like you don't have confidence and you DON'T want that!
3) My third tip is to MAKE SMALL TALK! By making small talk you're breaking the ice and making it easier for other people to get to know you and vice versa! This would also help you become more comfortable to talking to new people. So you can talk about classes, the school and your teachers since you probably have those in common. OR you can also talk about common interests like music and TV. Weather is always a safe option LOL

4) My fourth tip is to JOIN GROUPS OR CLUBS! By joining clubs that you have interests in such as music, drama, archery, math, philosophy or pop culture, you surround yourself with like minded people which already gives you something in common to talk about! The more you do this and make small talk with these people, the more FRIENDS you'll have!
5) My fifth tip is to COMPLIMENT PEOPLE! People love it when you compliment an outfit they spent hours putting together, or their makeup that they spent doing the WHOLE morning! Just COMPLIMENT people when you genuinely really like something or else it'll come off as superficial! You can use one's personality or face or body features as a compliment TOO! For example, you can tell somebody you like their smile and that will make them happy! By applying these in your everyday school life, you are more likely to be more social and have more friends that you connect with and share memories with! YOU GOT THIS!
