While there are many interpretations of who Jacob was actually wrestling, it’s the fact that brokenness is the key to coming to know our Heavenly Father. It’s when we rely on our Lord and lean on Him instead. Jacob was afraid of what his brother Esau may do to him and his family, but God was keeping Jacob and his family safe the entire time. As Jacob’s hip was struck, God struck fear in the enemies of Jacob. Our Lord is the Lord of all and has His hand in all that happens.
