Tire Wars: NASCAR's Asphalt Battlefield
Tire Wars is proudly presented by University of Racing Legends Die-Cast. Visit them at universityofracing.com
Beginning in 1988, Goodyear and Hoosier competed to be NASCAR's fastest tire manufacturer. The competition between brands brought higher speeds but also higher dangers. Both companies were guilty of bringing unreliable tires to races and putting competitors in danger. Driver injuries skyrocketed and teams lost confidence in their tires.
Tire Wars is the dramatic story of tire development, tragedy, and competition which ended with Hoosier's withdrawal at the end of 1994. This documentary recaps the battle between brands, a dramatic but overlooked aspect of NASCAR's modern era.
