The Daoist text, the Tao Te Ching, was most likely a collaborate effort rather than a single text written by a man named Lao Tzu. This collaborative element of the Tao Te Ching means that the text can be ambiguous, contradictory, and demanding of contemplation. To complicate matters further, the Tao Te Ching is one of the most translated texts worldwide, leading to multiple translations that vary significantly. Despite this ambiguity, it’s possible to attempt to learn about what the Dao is, or more likely, why one can’t fully grasp what the Dao is. The mysterious nature of the Dao can practically not only humble us but can also lead to a sense of unity between us and everyone around us. #daoism #taoteching #laotzu
