Yellow Moon - original by Steven Williams

My first (and only) truly autobiographical song.

When I was in high school, I went to a party and drank so irresponsibly that I nearly died. I woke up the following morning unable to recollect any of the evenings events or how I got home. I sheepishly approached the kitchen where my parents we’re sitting and my father looked deep into my eyes and said “you get one of these”. My parents look and those words scared the ever living shit out of me and needless to say I learned my lesson that day.

I was inspired to explore this style of songwriting after hearing a band called The Old Fashions fronted by my old classmate Amanda. I saw her performance, went home and began writing the song (she co-wrote this one). I had the honor of playing this song with The Old Fashions where Amanda added her perfectly beautiful echoing harmonies. As fate would have it both our bands broke up around the same time. We decided to form a new band together which became The Heavy Howl where she plays bass and sings.

I dedicate this song to mom and dad and Amanda.
