🎹 Skrjabin's two-movement 2nd Piano Sonata in G-sharp minor has a relatively lengthy genesis. He started this composition in 1892, but in the summer of 1896, after Scriabin had already performed the sonata several times in public in Paris, he reported to a publisher friend, discouraged: "I have completed the sonata, but am completely dissatisfied with it, although it has been reworked seven times." It was not until 1898 that he was finally satisfied, and the work appeared in print.

🎹 According to Skrjabin's own statement, the 2nd Sonata is inspired by impressions of various sea moods. Accordingly, the first movement evokes evening calm and nocturnal moonlight on a seaside, while the second reflects a stormy and turbulent sea. 🌊
