Karoline Leavitt speaks on upcoming hurricane season after FEMA head's comment causes stir

The new head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has staff concerned after reportedly telling personnel during a meeting that he was previously unaware that the United States has a hurricane season, which began on Sunday.

David Richardson, who started leading FEMA in May, made the comments during a Monday morning briefing, sources familiar with the situation told Reuters. It was not clear whether Richardson was making a joke or meant it literally.
