My best tip for carving pottery and getting a clean finish.

I often get asked how I create my Monstera mugs with such clean lines, and this is my best tip: timing is everything. With ceramics, there’s a tiny window where carving works best. I like to carve when the piece is on the drier side rather than too soft, which helps create the crisp, clean lines you see here.
