**Shell Pearls are cultivated freshwater pearls that were first carved from mother of pearl shell. Then they are placed inside the oyster to be coated further by Nacre, but for a shorter period than the normal cultivated pearls process, that have a placed irritant ("grain of sand" concept) . This allows for larger sizes of pearls at much more affordable prices.
