"It's Always Something"... and as predicted some part of the exhaust system was bound to be rusted together or otherwise STUCK. In this case it is a bronze 1-1/4" BSPT nipple that will not come out of the old Yanmar cast iron exhaust mixer elbow ( water cooled elbow). Without a really sturdy well anchored vise, there is no way this will come apart.. and even with that.. it will sustain some damage. the green threads in the picture wont ever screw into anything, so they can be sacrificed .. but the red threads have to screw back into the system, and so do the threads now stuck in the elbow. Because this is a british pipe tread.. it would be difficult to obtain a new part... so to get this back together ( using the new HDI MARINE STAINLESS CLONE OF THE YANMAR GM ELBOW ( the old part shown here) I need this damn nipple.
I will let it soak over night in Liquid Wrench.. while I lubricate my self with a Pilsner Urquell
