Listen Again

Mezzo-soprano Marta Fontanals-Simmons and pianist Lana Bode have been working at The Red House, Aldeburgh this year to analyse various techniques of programming and performance practice, in order to understand which approaches are most effective in engaging an audience.

In this film they talk about how the project came about and what they hope to achieve from this project.

Listen Again: Recital 2, Friday 12 October 2018, 7-8.45pm
Marta and Lana will continue their exploration of song recital content and structure, focusing on universal human experiences such as loneliness, romance and our relationship to sleep and dreams. There will be an interval during this concert.

Listen Again: Workshop, Wednesday 21 November 2018, 2-4pm
This workshop will offer attendees of the recital on 22 November the opportunity to discuss song recitals and programming with the performers, as well as previewing some material from the concert.

Listen Again: Recital 3, Thursday 22 November 2018, 5-6pm
The final recital in our Listen Again series with Marta Fontanals-Simmons and Lana Bode, marking the occasion of Britten’s 105th birthday. Using Britten’s Winter Words as a template in the first half, the performers will mirror its theme and structure through a re-imagined performance of Aaron Copland’s 12 Poems of Emily Dickinson in the second half.
