On April 17, 2026, one day before the NBA Playoffs tipped off, Danhausen appeared on ESPN's First Take and cursed the Knicks because Stephen A. Smith was rude to him. The Knicks fell behind in the first round against the Atlanta Hawks. Danhausen uncursed them via a Cameo, then redirected the curse to the Hawks and later the Cavaliers. New York did not lose again — posting the most dominant 10-game stretch in NBA playoff history, winning by a combined +246 point margin over a record that had stood since 1974. Danhausen attended Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden in full face paint and a Knicks jersey, posing for photos with Ben Stiller at courtside. Jalen Brunson subtly hit the Danhausen "you are cursed" hand motion at the San Antonio Spurs after Game 1. ESPN featured Danhausen in the official SportsCenter hype package ahead of Game 5. WWE gave him a full SmackDown segment on the eve of Game 5 where various superstars tried to bribe him into re-cursing the Knicks — he accepted their money and refused to curse anyone. He has also already asked the mayor of New York City to include a parade balloon in his honor that drops pizza and hot dogs on the public. He has not heard back yet.
Game 5 tips off tonight at 8:30 ET on ABC from San Antonio, with the Knicks one win from their first title since 1973. If they close it out, WWE has reportedly discussed featuring Danhausen prominently at Saturday Night's Main Event at Madison Square Garden on July 18, making the building the Knicks call home also the stage for his next chapter.
