I get asked all the time, "How do I start my own SEO agency?"

You can also use hacks like looking at who is running Google Adwords and seeing if they rank organically. If they're running ads, they have a budget for SEO and all it might take is the right professional to help them understand the value of doing both SEO and PPC.

Honestly, some of the advice you read on the "guru" videos here is the most insane thing I've ever heard. Neil Patel recommends that you go on Crunchbase and see who invested in a company. Then, you email the investors and tell them the company they just invested in is messing up and you can fix it in the hopes they forward your email to the company.

What company is going to want to work with such a slimy agency? SEO already operates in such an area of distrust (another topic Nick and I talk about) with startups and big organizations so to kick off a relationship that was is insane.

But that's the kind of advice you get when you listen to somebody who isn't actually in the trenches doing the work.
