India-China border tensions | Troops are no longer bound to not using firearms

The Indian Army has made a significant change in Rules of Engagement (ROE) after the Galway Valley skirmish that left 20 Indian soldiers dead. It has now given “complete freedom of action” to commanders deployed along the contested Line of Actual Control (LAC) to “handle situations at the tactical level.”
