The Spring Drive Party Trick
A Spring Drive watch is regulated by a quartz crystal and uses an electromagnetic force to slow down the movement to the oscillation of the quartz crystal. As the EMF is generated by the winding of the mainspring, when a Spring Drive powers up, the electromagnetic force is not generated because there is not enough power and the movement accelerates right away till it is slowed down by the EMF and the second hand slows down.
