We thought... what would happens when a boxer gets knocked out… and instead of hitting the mat, he turns into a shower of coins?

This is our latest VFX breakdown created in Blender 3D, where we turned a live-action boxing fight into something straight out of a video game.

In this breakdown, we dive into the techniques we used to bring the effect to life, including:

Camera Tracking / Matchmoving to lock the 3D elements into the live-action footage

Rotomation for seamless integration with the actor’s performance
Particle Systems & Simulations to make the coins explode realistically across the scene
Camera Projection Environments to extend the background and add depth

Compositing in Adobe After Effects for the final polished look

This project combines Blender’s powerful 3D tools with After Effects VFX compositing to create a knockout (literally) visual effect.
