After visitng Kangla fort & the Manipur state museum, along with some other places, I went to my hotel where i was denied check in, that was heart breaking after a long and hectic day... This vlog shows my struggle on the first day in Manipur...

Welcome to my Manipur travel vlog! In this episode, we'll explore the rich cultural heritage of Imphal, the capital city of Manipur, and its famous Kangla Fort and Manipur State Museum. We'll also get a glimpse of the local way of life in Imphal and experience its vibrant marketplaces.

Our first stop is Kangla Fort, which was once the seat of power of the Manipuri Kings. The fort has played an essential role in the history of Manipur, and it's a great place to explore to learn more about the state's past. It's a vast complex, with several buildings and courtyards, and it's surrounded by a moat. We'll enter the fort through the main gate, which is called the Kangla Sha. This gate has a symbolic significance, as it represents the unity of the three main ethnic groups of Manipur - the Meiteis, the Nagas, and the Kukis.

Inside the fort, we'll visit several buildings, including the Kangla Palace, the Senapati's House, and the Kangla Museum. The Kangla Palace was the residence of the Manipuri kings, and it's an excellent example of traditional Manipuri architecture. The Senapati's House is another impressive building, with intricate carvings and beautiful murals. The Kangla Museum is a must-visit, as it houses a vast collection of artifacts, including weapons, jewelry, textiles, and documents, which showcase the rich cultural heritage of Manipur.

Next, we'll visit the Manipur State Museum, which is located in the heart of Imphal. The museum is a great place to learn more about the art, culture, and history of Manipur. It has several galleries, each dedicated to a specific theme. We'll start with the Natural History Gallery, which displays a collection of animals, birds, and reptiles found in Manipur. We'll then move on to the Ethnology Gallery, which showcases the traditional costumes, jewelry, and weapons of the various tribes of Manipur.

The museum's most impressive gallery is the Historical Gallery, which chronicles the history of Manipur from the ancient times to the present day. It has several artifacts, including the famous 'Longpi Pottery,' which is unique to Manipur. The pottery is made from a mixture of black serpentinite rock and weathered rock, and it's handcrafted by the Longpi craftsmen. It's a must-see for anyone interested in traditional handicrafts.
