Regular brushing will remove the dead hair which causes tangles. If neglected a silky haired dog’s fur can become matted and then unfortunately the only solution is to shave it off.
You don’t need to use a professional dryer – any household hair dryer will do. But make sure it’s on a low heat. Get your puppy used to being groomed from a young age – that way it will become an enjoyable experience for both of you.
Jitka is using a medium sized slicker brush which removes any tangles and matted hair while gently massaging the skin at the same time. Used properly and gently the brush gives the dog a soft shiny coat and healthy circulation in the skin.
