STORYLINE:
Peruvian police on Tuesday displayed more than three tons of cocaine seized in combined operations with the navy.

President Dina Boluarte joined a briefing at an airport in Callao where the confiscated drugs were put on show.

She said her government would back up the security forces with "everything they need" to tackle drug trafficking

The Peruvian Navy and National Police took part in 'Operation Whale' on October 17, patrolling waters off the country's northern coast towards the border with Ecuador.

On that day authorities seized 2,866 pounds (1,300 kilograms) of cocaine.

Another boat was intercepted off the coast of the province of Piura on October 20, where police seized sacks containing 3,851 pounds (1,747 kg) of the drug.

Three Ecuadorian nationals and one Colombian national were arrested during the second operation.
