Investing in broad stock market index ETFs has become a very popular investment strategy due to the ease of implementation, cheap diversification, low fees, and solid historical returns.

While there isn't one "best" ETF for all purposes, the large-cap ETFs may be better suited for more conservative investors, while the mid-cap, small-cap and tech-heavy ETFs may be better-suited for higher-risk investors with a longer investment horizon.
