DJI Mavic Mini Cinematic Color Grading Test

Disclaimer: We did not shoot this footage. All footage was shot by Moment using the new DJI Mavic Mini. (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDqzuoZDmQ1u9oNZ_F3zi4A)

They did a great in-depth review of the Mavic Mini, which you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKfLXxTd8AQ

Moment kindly offered up the original video files to anyone who wanted to download them for closer inspection. We took a few of those shots to try some quick color-grading tests. We wanted to see if the Mavic Mini could compete with higher end drones to a generally untrained eye.

The original footage was shots at 2.7k 30fps, and the Exposure Comp had been adjusted down to -1

We applied some Magic Bullet looks at 100%, added Gaussian blur at 0.5% (to reduce the overly crisp look of the Mavic's baked-in settings), letterboxed the footage at 2.35:1, and ran Neat video Noise Reduction. Finally, we exported at 1080p 23.976fps

Obviously there are a few steps involved here, but we think it IS possible to get good looking footage out of the Mavic Mini, and it appears to be a pretty great option for the Prosumer market.

Thanks again to Moment for supplying the footage!
