✈️ FROM MELBOURNE TO ANFIELD — THE JOURNEY OF A LIFETIME 🔴
17,000 kilometers. One dream. One club. One night that changed everything.
I'm a Liverpool FC fan living in Melbourne, Australia. And for years I dreamed of one thing — walking through the gates of Anfield and watching my team play live.
In 2023 that dream finally became reality. And I want to share every single moment of it with you.
🔴 THE JOURNEY
Flying from Melbourne to Liverpool is not a simple trip. It's not a short drive or a quick train ride. It's 17,000 kilometers across the world. Multiple flights. Multiple layovers. Nearly 24 hours of travelling.
But for Liverpool FC? For Anfield? For the chance to hear 55,000 fans sing You'll Never Walk Alone live?
Worth every single second. Worth every single dollar. Worth every single kilometer. 🔴
🔴 ARRIVING IN LIVERPOOL
Nothing prepares you for Liverpool city. It's a city that breathes football. It lives and dies with this club. Every street corner, every pub, every conversation — Liverpool FC is everywhere.
Walking through the city knowing that Anfield was just around the corner gave me goosebumps I still can't explain. This is the city of Shankly. Of Paisley. Of Dalglish. Of Gerrard. Of Salah. And I was actually there. 🔴
🔴 THE LIVERPOOL FC MUSEUM
Before the match I visited the Liverpool FC museum inside Anfield. And I want to be honest with you — I was not prepared for what I saw.
Standing in front of 6 European Cup trophies. The actual trophies. Not replicas. Not photos. The real ones.
Six times Champions of Europe. And there they were right in front of me. A Melbourne Red standing in Anfield Museum staring at six European Cups that represent the greatest football club in the history of the sport.
I got chills I still feel today 💔
Walking through the history of this club — from Bill Shankly building something from nothing to the Kop becoming the most famous stand in world football, to Istanbul 2005, to the night we ended a 30 year wait for the league title — it's all there. Every moment. Every trophy. Every legend.
If you ever get the chance to visit the Liverpool FC museum — do it. Don't hesitate. Don't wait. Just go. 🔴
🔴 STEPPING INSIDE ANFIELD
Then came the moment I had dreamed about for years.
Walking through the tunnel and seeing Anfield for the first time.
I genuinely cannot put into words what that feels like. On TV Anfield looks like a football stadium. In person it feels like a cathedral. It feels like something sacred. Something spiritual.
The pitch is the most perfect shade of green you've ever seen. The stands tower above you in every direction. The Kop end stretches out in front of you like a wall of red and white.
And it's LOUD. Even before the match started — the atmosphere, the noise, the passion — nothing on TV prepares you for it.
I stood there and thought — this is why I flew 17,000 kilometers. This exact moment. 🔴
🔴 THE MATCH — LIVERPOOL VS EVERTON. THE MERSEYSIDE DERBY.
And then the match started. Not just any match.
The Merseyside Derby. Liverpool vs Everton. The most passionate local rivalry in English football.
55,000 Liverpool fans packed into Anfield. Flags waving. Songs echoing. The noise was absolutely deafening.
Watching Liverpool play at Anfield live is a completely different experience to watching on TV. You see the movement off the ball. You hear the crowd react to every tackle, every pass, every chance. You feel the tension and the passion in a way that no broadcast can ever capture.
And when Liverpool scored — the explosion of noise from 55,000 people simultaneously is something I will never forget for the rest of my life. 😱🔴
🔴 YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE
But the single greatest moment of the entire trip?
Hearing You'll Never Walk Alone sung live at Anfield.
55,000 people. One song. Every single voice together.
I've watched the videos online hundreds of times. I've heard it on TV. I thought I knew what it sounded like.
I had absolutely no idea.
When 55,000 people sing, You'll Never Walk Alone together at Anfield — it's not just a football song anymore. It's something else entirely. It's an emotion. It's a feeling. It's a connection between every single Liverpool fan in that stadium and every Liverpool fan who has ever lived.
I stood there with tears in my eyes, and I am not ashamed to say it. 💔🔴
🔴 WOULD I DO IT AGAIN?
Without hesitation. Tomorrow. Right now. Immediately.
Every Liverpool fan in the world deserves to experience Anfield at least once in their lifetime. No matter where you live. No matter how far you have to travel.
From Melbourne to Anfield is 17,000 kilometers. And I would do it again a thousand times over.
This is more than a football club. This is a way of life. This is a family. This is Liverpool FC.
