This knot is more a tool than merely a knot, the constrictor knot has perhaps more uses than any other single knot and should rank highly on your list of knots to know or learn. Amongst its uses are; the temporary whipping of the end of a rope, or at the join of a splice; a grip around a bundle of lines; a clamp to hold an object whilst this is being glued and for general use as a third hand to hold something.
