Palm Sunday Procession (Phil Lehenbauer) – on "Valet will ich dir geben"

"All Glory, Laud, and Honour," are the great opening words of the Palm Sunday hymn which is regularly sung to the tune "St. Theodolph". Phil Lehenbauer, one of Youtube's many talented resident organists and composers, wrote this processional based on the tune (known in German as "Valet will ich dir geben") in 2021, for the Shepherd of the Coast Lutheran Church. I really love this work, and felt it deserved to be played at St Mary's Cathedral on its tuba. However, given the rule in Catholic churches that organ is not to be played during Lent, I was unable to play the work in a service, so have instead recorded it for you to enjoy here.

My thanks to Kim for filming the performance, and for tolerating how loud the organ gets at the end – nearly deafening by the console!
