How I got into OMA

Have you ever wondered why OMA has been coveted as one of the most desirable places to work for aspiring architects?

The influence OMA had in the field of architectural design is hard to overstate. From CCTV, Seattle Public Library, curating the 2014 Venice Biennial, and reeling in avant-garde architectural theories via enormous books Rem Koolhaas and OMA has been raising raising the public's eyebrows with striking designs for almost 5 decades.

Perhaps even more impressive than that, Rem Koolhaas is said to be responsible for creation of over 40 practices worldwide. There's even a term for companies founded by former OMA employees - "Baby Rems" or "OMA babies." So naturally, many young ambitious architects aim to get a taste of that secret hot sauce. And this is my story of how I got into OMA.
