farmers markets in these strange times

The pandemic has put pressure on all aspects of life and business, including farmers markets. Using the Ithaca Farmers Market as an example, I show the complexity of large farmers market systems, what it's like as a farmer to sell within those systems, and talk about the stresses applied to the market by the different interests of vendors and customers. The pandemic has pushed the Ithaca market to the breaking point, causing disagreement among vendors, management, and leadership about the best course the market should take. Long-simmering tensions have reached the boiling point...can the market be repaired, or would it be better for the market to rethink their basic organizational principles?
