What is a Tincture, Glycerite, and Elixir with Deb Soule

Oftentimes when we are just starting out on our herbal journey we can get a little hung up on the terminology.
In this video, Deb shares with us her explanation of three common methods of herbal extraction. So, what IS a tincture, a glycerite, and, an elixir?

A tincture is an herbal extraction of plants using organic alcohol and water. These extractions tend to have a longer shelf life and the alcohol content can vary depending on the plant, root, seed or leaf that we are creating an extraction from.

A glycerite is an herbal extraction of plants using vegetable glycerin to delicately extract those fragrant volatile oils from plants. These products tend to have a shorter shelf life of about 2 years.

An elixir is a combination of extraction processes. An elixir utilizes both glycerin and a touch of alcohol to help preserve the extract. The shelf life for these is around 2 years, too.
