India's First Ever Mobile Phone Call! | Evolution Of Cell Phone #shorts #technology #indianhistory

Do you know when and who made the first mobile call in India?

July 31, 1995—this was the date when the first mobile phone call was made in India.

This historic call was made from Kolkata to Delhi.

The first caller was West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu, and the receiver was Union Telecom Minister Sukh Ram.

This call was made on the Modi Telstra network, the first company to provide mobile service in India.

Phones at that time weren't as slim as they are today, but were bulky, like walkie-talkies.

And you know the funny thing? Back then, you had to pay for incoming calls, let alone outgoing ones!
