It was 1886 in London. The victorian era. The Bartlett family of Thomas Edwin Bartlett and Adelaide Blanche Bartlett lived in Pimlico. They were 19 years apart in age. On January 1st, Thomas would be found dead at 4am by his wife. He was found with a stomach full of chloroform. When this news spread of a possible poisoning, all eyes turned to Adelaide. She was the prime suspect as she was the last person to see him alive. Then a man named George Dyson would come forward saying that Adelaide often asked him to buy her chloroform for Thomas. George was Adelaide's lover but he was also Thomas' lover. You see, the three of them had become close and Thomas really like the thought of him becoming Adelaide's co-husband. In fact, he put into his will that Adelaide should marry him after he passed. This didn't point to motive at all. Adelaide had the best of both worlds, right? Well, it would also come out that Adelaide had told a doctor she was putting him to sleep with this poison every night so he wouldn't try to be intimate with her. You see, Thomas had always be very controlling of his wife and he was also a hypochondriac who constantly believed he was dying and was taking all sorts of medicine to heal himself and making her take care of him. Did this give her motive? Or was it an accident? The real problem was, his body showed no signs of him injesting this substance as though it could not have been in his stomach at all. This was a real murder mystery that made many believe she was a black widow killer. Although, she was found not guilty.
