Uttar Pradesh Elections: Will Ajit Singh Make A Comeback?

The Jats rose to economic and political ascendency in the 1960s reaping dividends from land reforms and the Green Revolution. During those decades, the community pinned its faith in Chaudhary Charan Singh and then his successor Ajit Singh. However, that allegiance ended in 2013 with the Jat-Muslim riots in Muzaffarnagar when the Jats deserted Ajit Singh and his RLD for maintaining political neutrality rather than supporting them against the Muslims. This time around, Ajit Singh has projected his son Jayant Chaudhary as the chief ministerial candidate for the party, hoping for a comeback. (Audio in Hindi)
