Star Citizen VR Setup in 2 Minutes (2026 Guide)

THE VR CITIZEN QUICK-START CHECKLIST
1. The Hardware Essentials

Headset: Quest 3/S, Quest 2, Pico 4, or any OpenXR-compatible headset

Connection: Ethernet is mandatory for your PC. Use a 5GHz or 6GHz Wi-Fi 6 router for the headset.

RAM: 32GB is highly recommended for a smooth experience in 4.7.

2. Software Setup (Virtual Desktop)

Download the Virtual Desktop Streamer on your PC (VRDesktop.net).

Purchase the Virtual Desktop App on your headset store.

Tip: Set your "Codec" to AV1 (if on 40-series GPU) or HEVC for the best clarity.

3. Enabling Native VR Mode

Open the RSI Launcher.

Go to Settings - Games.

Toggle VR Support to ON.

Note: You no longer need third-party apps like VorpX or ReShade for basic VR functionality!

4. Essential Keybinds to Remember

Numpad 5: Recenter your VR view (Do this every time you sit in the pilot seat!).

Numpad / (Forward Slash): Toggle VR mode on/off in-game.

L-Alt + Numpad 5: Toggle Theater Mode.

TROUBLESHOOTING 4.7
Can't see the VR Toggle? Make sure your RSI Launcher is updated to version 2.12.1 or higher.

Laggy UI? 4.7 has a new "Experimental VR" section in the Graphics settings. Try lowering the "VR Mirror" resolution to save performance.

Blurry View? Ensure your "Upscaling" (DLSS/FSR) is set to Quality or Balanced inside the game's Graphics menu.
