How Ahsoka Was Inspired By Lord of the Ring’s Gandalf

Eagle eyed Rebels fans probably noticed that the scene with Sabine and Ahsoka in the Rebels finale was almost directly translated into live action, but with one major difference. In the rebels version, Ahsoka is wearing a white cloak and holding a staff, while in the live-action version she is dressed in grey. Now this retcon is apparently deliberate. In Rebels, Ahsoka is portrayed as somewhat flawless. But in the Ahsoka TV show, it is pretty clear that she still has faults. Rosario Dawson and Dave Filoni apparently loved the idea that Ahsoka was somewhat like Gandalf the Grey from Lord of the Rings. Both characters are powerful, wise and display strong leadership qualities. But according to Rosario Dawson “she still has levels of development to go.” Therefore, they decided to portray Ahsoka more like Gandalf the Grey, insinuating we will see Ahsoka’s transition into her final white form seen in rebels in the future.
