Kumbhalgarh ("Kumbhal fort") is a Mewar fortress on the westerly range of Aravalli Hills, in the Rajsamand district near Udaipur of Rajasthan state in western India. It is a World Heritage Site included in Hill Forts of Rajasthan. Built during the course of the 15th century by Rana Kumbha. Occupied until the late 19th century, the fort is now open to the public and is spectacularly lit for a few minutes each evening. Kumbalgarh is situated 82 km northwest of Udaipur by road. It is the most important fort in Mewar after Chittorgarh Fort.

Kumbhalgarh Fort is the second most important fort of Rajasthan after Chittorgarh. Located at a distance of 80 kms from Udaipur in Rajasmand district

This fortress is secured under the kind protection of the Aravali ranges. Kumbhalgarh Fort was built by Maharana Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. The fort derived its name from the same factor.

कुम्भलगढ़ का दुर्ग राजस्थान ही नहीं भारत के सभी दुर्गों में विशिष्ठ स्थान रखता है। उदयपुर से ७8 दूर समुद्र तल से १,०८७ मीटर ऊँचा और ३० किमी व्यास में फैला यह दुर्ग मेवाड़ के यशश्वी महाराणा कुम्भा की सूझबूझ व प्रतिभा का अनुपम स्मारक है। इस दुर्ग का निर्माण सम्राट अशोक के द्वितीय पुत्र संप्रति के बनाये दुर्ग के अवशेषों पर १४४३ से शुरू होकर १५ वर्षों बाद १४५८ में पूरा हुआ था। दुर्ग का निर्माण कार्य पूर्ण होने पर महाराणा कुम्भा ने सिक्के डलवाये जिन पर दुर्ग और उसका नाम अंकित था। वास्तुशास्त्र के नियमानुसार बने इस दुर्ग में प्रवेश द्वार, प्राचीर, जलाशय, बाहर जाने के लिए संकटकालीन द्वार, महल, मंदिर, आवासीय इमारतें, यज्ञ वेदी, स्तम्भ, छत्रियां आदि बने है।
