CENTRAL SELECTION OVERVIEW

Those Potential Recruits (PRs) whose bib Number and NPP Number are listed in the call forward list for Central Selection were successful at Regional Selection. They are invited to attend Central Selection at British Gurkhas Pokhara on the date the call forward list states.

As the penultimate phase of Gurkha recruiting, Central Selection will select the best 218 Trainee Riflemen for the British Army (BA) and 140 Trainee Policemen for the Gurkha Contingent Singapore Police Force (GCSPF). Successful PRs listed on the call forward list must abide by the following instructions carefully and ensure they arrive properly prepared and focused for the challenge ahead.

GCSPF: 18 Jan to 27 Jan 2022
BA West: 28 Jan to 06 Feb 2022
BA East: 08 Feb to 17 Feb 2022

So, these are the 6 tests for Central Selection

1. Overarm Heaves: Minimum 12 (Best Effort)
2. 2km Run: Under 8 minutes. (Best Effort)
3. Jerry Can Carry: Under 2 minutes. (Best Effort)
4. DOKO Run: Under 46 minutes. (Best Effort)
5. Mid-Thigh Pull: 76 Kilograms. (British Army Only)
6. Medicine Ball Throw: 3.1 meters. (British Army Only)

Best Effort: Remember you must perform as well as possible and give only your very best effort in every test to achieve the highest score that you can. The higher you score, the greater number of points you will be given, making your selection into the British Army or the Gurkha Contingent Singapore Police Force more likely.
