As mentioned in the title, these heaters have been a favourite of mine for many years and give outstanding performance in real environments due to their heat output over air flow rate when you want it most!

You really need to know it runs like this one or very close as with the D5LC, the flame tube is not replacable! Good serving is the secret to keeping one of these heaters running for decades with normal use.

So, when you find one to buy, ask the seller why it is for sale and does it smoke or pop at all?

A tiny bit of smoke on start can be normal, but should dissapear within a few seconds. Continued smoke will be of concern or a popping sound from the exhaust. Sometimes it may just be the glow plug screen and requires a decoke, but that is only applicable if the heater can go to boost (Full power)

If a heater only runs for several minutes on a mid fan speed and then shuts down. This could mean, the flame tube has burnt out and requires a new heat exchanger costing around £500!
